Buy Local Orlando to Sunset March 15
The Buy Local Orlando program was launched in 2009 to help strengthen our community’s economy during a time when many businesses were struggling to survive. As the only municipally-run buy local campaign in the nation, the program provided a solution to help Orlando’s businesses weather the storm during the economic downturn.
The Buy Local Orlando program was founded on the philosophy that supporting local businesses would result in long term economic prosperity for the region. During the past five years, the Buy Local Orlando program has succeeded in raising awareness of the advantages of local spending by developing innovative opportunities to highlight local and small business. Today, Downtown Orlando, our Main Streets and other commercial districts are thriving.
We are proud of the work we have done to help market the amazing businesses located within the City of Orlando; however, it is time to refocus our efforts to help our small business community achieve the next level of success. As such, we have decided to sunset the Buy Local program on March 15, 2014. All current memberships will expire on this date.
We will continue to support our small businesses through a variety of initiatives including the Orlando Main Street program, Mayor’s Business Assistance Team and the Business and Bagels educational series. We are also working to develop new initiatives to highlight and promote local businesses within the City of Orlando.
We thank you for your continued support of the Buy Local Orlando program and wish your business great success. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Emily Brown, Economic Development Coordinator, at 407.246.3123.
